I appreciate your thoughts. But I don't see how the last paragraph flows out of the 2nd-to-last. Agree that Furman needs to capitalize on what could make a small school special. However, I don't think that necessarily means that Furman "needs" a president that builds a relationship with the students. However, they ought to create an environment where the student does feel supported and close to some amount of faculty (especially in the department of their major).
